Industrial Ergonomics
|
|
At PersonaGrip Industrial Ergonomics, we specialize in reducing costs by reducing grip force. By making tool grips adjustable and training workers to take advantage of this technology, they are able to perform the same task with less force. Laboratory EMG tests prove this.
Multi-User Work Environments
Mass-produced tools must be generic for fit as well as function. The result is a smooth grip surface. On site, we have the luxury of fine-tuning these tools first to suit the task, and, ideally, to the worker in dedicated-tool work environments; otherwise, task-specific grips are designed for each tool.

Used Properly, PersonaGrip:
- Reduces Transmitted Shock & Vibration
- Improves Worker Productivity & Morale
- Improves Accuracy & Consistency
- Provides Maximum Comfort
- Enhances Tool Control
- Increases Power & Feedback
- Can Reduce the Risk of Cumulative Trauma Disorders (CTS, VWF, Tendinitis, etc.)
- Eliminates Painful Pressure Points & Blisters
- Reduces Costs, Absenteeism, & Employee Turnover
- Compensates For Injuries
- Eliminates Tactile Distractions
- Lets Users Determine Exact Blend of Form & Function so they can make the grip look the way they want.

| Tool Grip Design Basics
Conventional tools are controlled mainly by friction between the tool and operator's hand. This means tools must be squeezed. By creating task-specific adjustable grip surfaces that are perpendicular to the line of opposing force, leverage replaces friction so workers can relax their grip and still maintain control. This is not magic, just simple high-school physics.

PersonaGrip reduces grip tension and distributes loads evenly across the hand.
|
By filling empty spaces in and around the hand, grips can easily be designed without increasing perceived tool diameter and can also accommodate:
- hand movement or a range of motion
- single or multiple positions
- gloved or bare hands
- ambidextrous use
- any other possible work situation.
The design choice is Yours with PersonaGrip.

By placing material above and below the hand, tool diameter is not increased, but grip forces can be reduced dramatically.

Less Vibration
This relaxed grip tension DECOUPLES the hand from the vibrating tool, and reduces both transmitted vibration as well as excess tension in the forearm. This means the feedback from the tool transmits through less "static" in the arm on its way to the brain. Engineers call this a better signal-to-noise ratio. With better feedback, workers can improve quality, minimize costly errors, and reduce injuries.

Lose the Force... Gain the Benefits.
If you reduce force, then you reduce costs. Plain and Simple. Why?
Because, according to the Bureau of National Affairs (Publication 0418-2693/90), High Grip Force and Repetition are the leading causes of Repetitive Strain Injuries.
